Adult Scripture Study
We are pleased to offer an introductory Scripture Study Class during the 2017-2018 Liturgical Year.
We are currently learning about the origins and structure of the Bible and the underlying history the People of Israel (Old Testament) and the New Israel (The New Testament) and how to read scripture as an Orthodox Christian.
The class is intended to assist the faithful in receiving the necessary background to better understand the sacred treasure of the Bible, the beautiful book of the Church, which Metropolitan Kallistos Ware describes as a "love letter" written to us by Almighty God.
It meets on Wednesday Evenings from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm in our Church Fellowship Hall. As an alternate those who are unable to attend the class on site, the class is available simultaneously via video or teleconference via a user friendly online streaming service.
Those who are interested in attending on site or through video or tele- conferencing are kindly asked to contact Fr. Peter at priest@sjoc.org.
It is highly recommended that participants use the Orthodox Study Bible.
